ACTION CALL: B17/82/1 – Novel Food and Drink Processing

Novel Food and Drink Processing

Summary

We are currently working with a global food and beverage company, who is looking to identify ‘Novel Food and Drink Processing’ technologies, that will enable the production of a wider range of products with added value through application of new and emerging technologies.  Recent advances have seen the successful introduction of Robotics, High Pressure Processing and Ultrasonics to name a few, but do you have the next generation process that will move the food and drink industry forward and meet the challenges that the future holds in terms of product profile, nutrition or resource efficiency?

Scope

This brief is seeking to identify new food and beverage processes that can meet the future demands of the food and rink industry.  The processes required could:

  • Minimise the processing of products
  • Develop new textures
  • Allow the use of under utilised resources or ingredients
  • Improve product shelf life
  • Improve the taste and texture
  • Improve the nutrition of the product
  • Reduce the fat and sugar content whilst retaining the desirability
  • Reduction or valorization of process waste

Processes and technologies at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 7+ will be prioritised.  However, those that can achieve TRL 9 within a 5 year horizon will be considered.

Responses

All solutions must be submitted to Technology Scout ([email protected]), with a subject line ACTION ref:  B17/82/1 – Novel Processes detailing:

  • A summary of the process or technology
  • Any technical or application limitations
  • Commercial availability
  • Suitability for food and drink application
  • Contact details
